Farm Manager - Teaching Farm (Job Ref. 112)

The Role

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to lead the development of a progressive teaching farm attached to a well-established college in Kent. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager to bring vision, expertise and energy to this evolving operation.

The Farm

A mixed livestock unit comprising cattle, breeding sheep, and small-scale poultry and pig enterprises, alongside grass and forage production. This is a hands-on management role offering genuine scope to shape operations, improve standards, and develop the farm’s long-term direction.

You will take full operational responsibility for the farm, overseeing livestock welfare, staff coordination, student supervision, and daily management. This includes planning and overseeing all seasonal activities — lambing, calving, forage production and cultivation — while maintaining the farm’s educational purpose and high standards of compliance and health & safety.

You will also provide practical instruction and mentorship to students, helping to inspire and equip the next generation of farmers.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Extensive livestock management experience, supported by relevant agricultural qualifications.
  • Strong all-round stockmanship across multiple enterprises.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent people skills.
  • Experience in compliance, record keeping and farm assurance.
  • Practical problem-solving approach and adaptability.
  • Health & Safety management.

This role will suit an individual seeking autonomy, variety and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on both a farm enterprise and agricultural education.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • On-site accommodation
  • 21 days holiday + Bank Holidays
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Personal development programme and career progression opportunities
